How does it work?

Every application contains a script (a programming code written in the core of the application, which controls its behavior and the elements it contains) A virus attack consists of getting to the script of the application to compose malicious codes to it, which then causes the program to fail.

Web scripting viruses can spread through the JAVAscript feed of a third party client, HTML documents and email attachments.

Danger

Particular danger of this type of malware is that this virus at some point appears to be hard to recognize because the system execution of the attacked virus remains practically unaltered. The malicious JAVAscript code often makes it difficult to tell apart from the general web-page mark-up.

Furthermore, a web scripting virus is often automatically produced by a virus generator and they are easily replicated which makes them really hard to get rid of.

How To Detect This Virus?

It is common to encounter this virus while you are web browsing, because the web scripting virus normally originates from web page ads and so is omnipresent. Web scripting viruses can be joined onto the clickable media, such as links, images, or videos.

The results of a web script virus infection include alteration of the home page of a web program, changes to your registry, decreased system performance and speed, etc.

For example:

  • The settings of your web browser or desktop will alter automatically, and your google search can be redirected to a malicious search engine.
  • The virus slows down the performance of your computer, for example incorporating delays in opening your programs and perpetual shut downs of your computer
